One Foundation Design

There are two chess sets here.

 

The first set is made of Cocobolo and Birdseye Maple.  Cocobolo is one of the most expensive and hard to obtain exotic woods in the world today.  Even rarer is wood of this particular color and quality.  The second set is made of Chechen, another exotic wood, and Curly Maple.

Each set has pieces that were created by me either on the lathe or, in the case of the knights, shaped by hand.  Each set is different from the other and is unique in the way the board opens to reveal the pieces.
